This Wisteria is especially lovely, and rather rare. With one of these in your collection you’ll be a real connoisseur If you’ve space for only one Wisteria (our condolences) do make it this one. Crisp yellow-centred white flowers, sometimes with the faintest blush of pale pink emerge just before the foliage on gracefully-dangling sprays. Leaves when they emerge in late spring are a bronzy-coppery feathersome affair and deepen to a rich green through summer. There will be a lot of them. Delicate new tendrils fast become sinewy limbs and branches, full of fluid form and character. The vigour of these vines lends them particularly well to being trained up the side of a sunny wall (provide support) or wending its way through the branches of established trees and over rooftops. Slightly more delicate with regard to positioning: aim for a sunny and sheltered place to get the best out of this beauty.
N.B. When clipping several plants with the same tool, have a bucket containing a 5% bleach solution and swish your blades around for 30 seconds between plants to sterilise them. This will help avoid the chance of cross contamination of disease.
As with all woody plants, plant high, exposing as much of the taper at the base of the trunk as possible. Allowing soil to accumulate round the base of a tree can be fatal. Keep very well watered when first planted.
