Sarcococca confusa (Christmas Box)
Sweetly scented white flowers December to March followed by glossy black berries. Slow growing and suckering. Best in shade and happy on chalk. To 3ft. Please contact us for stock availability and sizes.
Hardiness level Green
Slow growing and suckering, making it excellent for groundcover. To 1 metre maximum. Always best in shade as it yellows with too much sun. Happy on chalk. Likes a well drained soil.
Should be no need to prune but if you do, cut back after flowering.
N.B. When clipping several plants with the same tool, have a bucket containing a 5% bleach solution and swish your blades around for 30 seconds between plants to sterilise them. This will help avoid the chance of cross contamination of disease.
As with all woody plants, plant high, exposing as much of the taper at the base of the trunk as possible. Allowing soil to accumulate round the base of a tree can be fatal. Keep very well watered when first planted.
