A pretty, properly bushy bush. An upright, rounded and evergreen shrub with the most delicate little leaves, pale green and frosted in cream with a tiny speckle of pink at the edges. Masses of them in huge abundance on the slenderest of wiry stems give these shrubs a ‘fluffy’ appeal. Extremely pretty and a must-have for virtually any garden, it does like to be protected from strong cold winds. A sunny and sheltered spot would suit a solo specimen, they look especially effective planted among, or in front of, solid-green evergreens where their variegation really pops and adds contrast. Happy potted, if you’ve a courtyard to fill, although they also make marvelous low hedges and attractively dense living screens.
N.B. When clipping several plants with the same tool, have a bucket containing a 5% bleach solution and swish your blades around for 30 seconds between plants to sterilise them. This will help avoid the chance of cross contamination of disease.
As with all woody plants, plant high, exposing as much of the taper at the base of the trunk as possible. Allowing soil to accumulate round the base of a tree can be fatal. Keep very well watered when first planted.
