Myrtus apiculata ‘Glanleam Gold’ (Variegated Orange Barked Myrtle)
Hardiness level Amber
Lovely little variegated version of our well know Orange Bark Myrtle. Little? Variegated plants are invariably smaller and slower growing than 'the type' (the original). Masses of small fragrant white flowers in mid-summer. Could reach 3.5m after 25 years. Propagated by cuttings.
Plenty of light in any reasonably well drained soil - but they like lots of water. Less hardy than 'the type' so best in urban and coastal gardens. Glanleam is the garden in Co. Kerry where it first appeared. Propagated by cuttings.
