Mahonia eurybracteata ‘Soft Caress’
Evergreen, elegant palmy ferny thing with yellow flowers. Possibly the most elegant and softest of all the (usually rather prickly) Mahonias. To 3ft x 3ft after 6 years. Please contact us for stock availability and sizes.
Hardiness level Green
This is a form of the Chinese Mahonia eurybracteata that's proving hardy, elegant and easy to grow. Slow growing so not bad in a pot. It likes full sun to partial shade.
We can only apologise for the name. Apologies.
Propagated from cuttings.
N.B. When clipping several plants with the same tool, have a bucket containing a 5% bleach solution and swish your blades around for 30 seconds between plants to sterilise them. This will help avoid the chance of cross contamination of disease.
As with all woody plants, plant high, exposing as much of the taper at the base of the trunk as possible. Allowing soil to accumulate round the base of a tree can be fatal. Keep very well watered when first planted.
