Luzula sylvatica ‘Marginata’ (Woodrush)
£25.50 incl. VAT
Evergreen ground cover for woodland gardens. Grassy, but not really a grass, with delicate grassy (yes, but not) flowers in late spring.
Hardiness level Green
Evergreen groundcover for woodland gardens. Broad grassy leaves and delicate brown rushy flowers in late spring. ‘Marginata’ has the slimmest of bright cream trims down each deep green leaf which gives them a really sharp definition. Great for bringing light and texture into some of the lower-light spots in your garden.
Great too as groundcover for dappled light shade where their thick strappy clumps will carpet large areas. In general, true grasses are morose in shade and will be a constant tatty irritation, Luzula is your solution, you’ll get a respectably thick carpet of smart blades that will cheerfully occupy the tricky patches beneath trees or tall shrubs, and it’s the perfect plant for that enchanted woodland feel. Spreads steadily with little fuss and likes soil on the moister side. Do tidy it up in late autumn or early spring to strip out any spent blades.
