Crocosmia ‘Lucifer’ (Montbretia)
To 3 ft with strong reddy orange flower spikes in late summer. For sun or shade, dies down in winter. Lovely woodland plant. Please contact us for other stock availability and sizes.
Hardiness level Green
One of our very few African species - from the South and East African Highlands. Leafy green spears to about 3ft topped with exotic red flower spikes in prodigious profusion.
They die down in the winter but reappear in spring like clockwork. Reliable and rather lovely. The plant is most commonly seen (sometimes naturalised) with the orange flowers. This one has a much more intensely red flower.
They seem happy almost anywhere - in full sun or even in woodland.
Propagated by us by division.
