Cistus x lusitanicus ‘Decumbens’ (Rock Rose)
Essential in your Mediterranean garden with its deliciously aromatic leaves. Masses of white flowers and growing in low spreading mounds. A great blob. Please contact us for stock availability and sizes.
Hardiness level Amber
One of the hardiest of all the Rock Roses - forming a lovely dome shape when planted in sunny spots with good drainage. Masses of white flowers in midsummer. 2ft tall x 4ft across after 4 years. This can be seen growing on cliff tops overlooking the Atlantic in its native Portugal.
Propagated by us from cuttings.
N.B. When clipping several plants with the same tool, have a bucket containing a 5% bleach solution and swish your blades around for 30 seconds between plants to sterilise them. This will help avoid the chance of cross contamination of disease.
As with all woody plants, plant high, exposing as much of the taper at the base of the trunk as possible. Allowing soil to accumulate round the base of a tree can be fatal. Keep very well watered when first planted.
