AP Ceramics – Stoneware Platters

These Stoneware Platters are thrown on the wheel and finished by hand. Each one is unique and decorated with an individual combination of tin/chromium glazes. On the exterior of each platter there are also hints of lustre and clustered bronze particles that elaborate the textures of the stoneware and catch the light with a warming iridescence.

A steady hand is required to glaze large platters such as these. The glaze is poured into the platter, swirled to coat the stoneware surface, the excess carefully drained and the rim redefined with an expert sweep of an accurately applied sponge. Marvellous to watch – the result is all the more stunning after firing.
