Euphorbia wulfenii
It’ll grow almost anywhere but really likes masses of light and pretty well drained soil. The bluey-grey leaves with their mat texture and its moundy shape are what makes this plant so tasty.
Can grow to 3ft across to 2ft tall in full sun but considerably more in shade. Like all Euphorbias, the flowers are weird (little yellowy/green Shrek’s ears) and although most people like them, they do nothing for the shape of the plant once they’re gone and their removal is always an option…
Also, like all Euphorbias, the milky white sap is irritating so don’t rub your eyes, pick your nose or scratch your bottom after you’ve been removing the flowers.
Propagated by us from seed.
N.B. When clipping several plants with the same tool, have a bucket containing a 5% bleach solution and swish your blades around for 30 seconds between plants to sterilise them. This will help avoid the chance of cross contamination of disease.
As with all woody plants, plant high, exposing as much of the taper at the base of the trunk as possible. Allowing soil to accumulate round the base of a tree can be fatal. Keep very well watered when first planted.
