POT HUNTING DOESN’T HAVE TO BE like A SEARCH FOR THE HOLY GRAIL
Finding the right pot is key to any design…
Formal gardens tend to incorporate matching pots with straight lines and simple details. Terracotta, although very adaptable, is usually associated with Mediterranean gardens. Some like to have a mixture of pot styles, keeping a more informal loose feel to the design. Whatever your opinion and taste, we will have something for you at our nursery. We have the largest physical pot collection in the UK for you to explore. That’s not boasting – just an admission of our collector’s obsession.
Botticelli was actually the famous artist’s nickname and meant little barrel. I’d be more inclined to describe this pot as sumptuous, curvaceous and especially nice with a faux antique brass finish which is glossy and rich. Not the most practical for future plant moving due to the shape but who cares when it looks this good.
2: Exara (Light Bulb), Terraneo
Our Terraneo range is full of strong and historically shapely pots. Their thick sides make them robust and with age they develop further character. This was my choice of pot to be shown on our Chelsea Flower show 2024 stand. It certainly got the attention of the crowd. An added benefit is that Terracotta is porous and holds moisture – slowly releasing it back to the plant after watering – excellent for those hot summers.
Dead posh as a pair – very Tresco. Add an over sized fern or a yucca to add character. Love getting these into a garden.
Made for our RHS Chelsea stand in 2024 to match the copper ball cock at the top of our hunters hut. If kept in its original form it adds glamour. I like to let them age, helped along by spraying salt water on to them. Must protect roots from the Copper. Price on application.
Don’t agree? That’s fine, there’s lots more to choose from at our nursery or from our online shop…
